  • Product Liability Defenses in Indonesia
Historically the Indonesian Civil Code (based on the Dutch civil law system) provided a foundation of tort and contract law principles within which products liability issues were considered. The provisions of the Civil Code prescribed a duty on manufactures and retailers to ensure the goods they sold were free from hidden defects and operated in conjunction with various statutes relating to hygiene, health, food regulation etc.
